Mous Limitless 4.0 case and card wallet for iPhone 12 Pro review

This clever case uses a magnet to attach a wallet, but there’s a downside.

It’s not you, it’s us. TravGear really wants to love this phone case, but it’s just not working out despite an insanely clever design that makes it a no-brainer for travel. On paper. Here’s why.

Mous Limitless 4.0 case and card wallet: design

We at TravGear love a phone case with a card wallet attached. Always have. But the arrival of wireless charging on the iPhone presents us with a problem because even the most well-designed card wallet case is no longer going to work. How can it? All those plastic cards and cash getting in the way of the phone’s battery and our new QI charging pad. And we do love wireless charging. Cue Mous, whose new Limitless 4.0 case for the iPhone 12 Pro (and other models and brands) allows wireless charging while also allowing the option to magnetically attach a wallet when it suits. What can go wrong?

Mous Limitless 4.0 case and card wallet: features

MagSafe is a new family of quick-attach accessories for iPhone 12. It allows a wireless charger to successfully attach to, and begin recharging, an iPhone 12 without you having to get it just in the right place. MagSafe has also spawned a lot of stick-on wallets like this one from Mous. You can use it on a naked iPhone or you can attach it to a compatible case like the Limitless 4.0. You choose. It all works really well. The wallet is excellent—it’s small, allows two cards and a few notes to be shoved in, and works quite well as a pocket wallet, too.  Once positioned correctly it’s really secure. And that wallet is so easy to remove that you can wirelessly charge your iPhone 12.

Mous Limitless 4.0 case and card wallet: performance and conclusion

The problem TravGear kept having with this clever idea was forgetting to attach the wallet. Sure, we had Apple Pay on our iPhone so sometimes it wasn’t a problem, but there were one too many occasions when we left the hotel with the phone in our pocket but no credit cards or cash. At one point we had to go home after failing to buy beer. That’s when it got serious and, frankly, we put our iPhone 12 Pro into another, lesser iPhone case that had a wallet permanently fixed to its back. Bye-bye wireless charging. Bye-bye Mous. When our memory improves, we’ll give you another go.
