Moshi IonGo 5K Duo portable charger
This great-looking portable charger with Apple Lightning and USB-C lets you leave all your cables at home

Here’s a small, unique-looking portable battery that lets you leave all the cables at home when you travel. With integrated Apple Lightning and USB-C cables, the Moshi IonGo 5K Duo portable charger looks like an ideal all-in-one device for staying powered-up on the road, but there’s more you need to know before you buy the Moshi IonGo 5K Duo.
Moshi IonGo 5K Duo: design and features
Weighing 120g, there are no concerns about this palm-sized charger’s credentials for those that want to travel light. Easy to slip into a pocket, build quality and looks are excellent. Tough USB-C and Apple Lightning cables unfurl from a soft suede-like interior while the lid around this faux leather-covered ‘fossil gray’ color clamshell device has a clever magnetic closure that keeps everything neat and compact.
With integrated USB-C and Apple Lightning cables, this is a battery for those that travel with a with a USB-C charging point. So before you buy Moshi IonGo 5K Duo’s 5,000mAh battery make sure you’re OK with using USB-C to recharge it. USB-C is found on newer laptops and, just occasionally, on Universal travel chargers.
Moshi IonGo 5K Duo: performance
The Moshi IonGo 5K Duo is easy to operate; you just attach the Apple Lightning cable to an iPhone or iPad and press a button on the side of the Moshi IonGo 5K Duo. The ‘duo’ moniker comes from the Moshi IonGo 5K Duo’s ability to simultaneously refuel one iPhone (via Apple Lightning) and one Android phone (via USB-C). It does so really quickly, too (thanks to support for 15W Apple Fast Charge), though exactly how useful a 5,000mAh battery is when shared between two phones is questionable. However, with earphones and other accessories moving over to USB-C, the uniquely equipped Moshi IonGo 5K Duo will appeal to those that need to fast-charge a small accessory as well as an iPhone.
Moshi IonGo 5K Duo: conclusion
Should you buy the Moshi IonGo 5K Duo? With an appealingly unique look and some fancy design flourishes (that magnetic closure, in particular), the Moshi IonGo 5K Duo hugely impress on all but one count; battery power. Could the Moshi IonGo 5K Duo be a little larger in terms of capacity and physical size? Sure, it could be; the iPhone 11 has a 3,110 mAh battery, so the Moshi IonGo 5K Duo’s 5,000mAh battery is only good for one-and-a bit refills. Being able to share that with an Android phone is a nice feature, but in practice, you’re probably not going to want to. That limitation aside, the well designed and compact Moshi IonGo 5K Duo is a great option for those that want to travel light on a night out; for a long trip, TravGear advises you find yourself a 10,000 mAh battery.
