Now on Kickstarter is this great-looking minimalist wallet that’s specially made with travel in mind.

Serman Brands 1.0 RFID Blocking Minimalist Slim Wallet: design

Made using full-grain leather, the Serman Brands 1.0 weighs 4g and measures 100x74x12mm when empty. It’s small, but it’s got some big features. TravGear‘s favorite is the quick-draw; a pocket hidden inside one of the sides can take a couple of credit cards, which can be popped-up at a moment’s notice by tugging a small strap. As well as an ID card window and space for two credit cards on the inside (and two more on the outside), there’s a cash clip. Oh, and RFID protection … deep breath.

Serman Brands 1.0 RFID Blocking Minimalist Slim Wallet: performance

So about that RFID blocking. It’s a waste of time. Yes, credit cards now use RFID (radio-frequency identification) to make contactless transactions, but are criminals really going round with credit card scanners to steal payment information? They are not. Why? Everything’s encrypted. You’re safe. So the mesh of conductive wire in the Serman Brands 1.0 that blocks electromagnetic fields is a waste of time. Sales gimmick aside, everything else about the Serman Brands 1.0 is great. There’s plenty of room for credit cards and cash, and the quick-draw works great.

Serman Brands 1.0 RFID Blocking Minimalist Slim Wallet: conclusion

Smart, small and with some genuinely helpful features, the Serman Brands 1.0 is a well-designed and lightweight wallet fit for travel. RFID rubbish aside, our only criticism is that when it’s stuffed with credit cards and cash the Serman Brands 1.0 can get a bit bulky.
