REVIEWED: SueMe Tree Trunk Boxer

Super-soft, comfortable and ultra-quick to dry, this impressive travel underwear is made from beech tree pulp

If you want to pack right, and pack light, always start at the bottom. Travel underwear is usually nylon or merino, and while TravGear has been on many a wash ‘n’ wear trip with a few pairs that have been quick to dry, they’re no longer top of our packing list. Cue SueMe, our new favourite travel gear brand.

SueMe Tree Trunk Boxer: design & technology

It’s not easy fulfilling a wish-list for travel underwear. It’s got to be really comfortable, odour resistant for those long days on buses, planes, trains … and preferably bikes … easy to wash, and quick to dry. Made from beech tree pulp, the first thing you notice about the SueMe Tree Trunk boxers is their supreme softness, but the cut, fit and shape are also spot-on.

SueMe Tree Trunk Boxer: in use

They’re a little shorter than some big boxers, which helps in hot and humid climates. A little Lycra adds some stretch, too. In fact, they’re so well designed that all seams are kept away from anywhere they could chafe. The claim that they’re naturally antibacterial and odour resistant also proved right, and when we did hand-wash them alongside a pair of ExOfficio Give-N-Go – our former favourite travel underwear brand – the SueMe Tree Trunks boxers were the first to dry.

SueMe Tree Trunk Boxer: conclusion

Sue Me is going for the all-natural market. As well as the fabric, the box around the product is made from recycled board and printed using vegetable inks. There’s even a pack of seeds in the box for, you know, saving the world. However, behind the branding is a brilliant pair of all-natural and silky soft underwear that’s not only good enough for general travel, but even demanding pursuits like cycling. When you’re got beach tree pulp, who needs merino?
