REVIEWED: Royal Robbins Noe travel shirt
This crease-free, quick-dry & short sleeve travel shirt proves ideal for a spot of South-East Asian temple-hopping
Is this the ultimate travel top for women? During a two-week ramble through the pagodas, temples and humidity of Myanmar, it sure felt like it.
Crinkle-free
Super-soft and comfortable, this capsule wardrobe candidate can easily be worn straight from a bag; there was not a crumple in sight during our extended test during which it was thrust in and out of backpacks every day.
Great fit
The fit is great, with a flattering cowl neckline that’s not so big that it gets in the way. It also has a light stretch, so it stays put, and enough length to reach to just below the hip.
Well travelled
Travel clothing is all about versatility, weight and wicking, and this top definitely fits the brief. During humid 30 degree heat in Myanmar the Noe wicked away the sweat efficiently and remained odour-free for several days, with just an occasional rinse in the sink. Even better, dried overnight – both outdoors and in an air-con room – so there was no need to cart wet clothes around.
Is it easy to use?
We were nervous about the absence of merino in this top (it’s made up of 96% Micro Modal and 4% Spandex), but it wicked and washed well. It remained in good shape, was quick to wash, easy to wring out, and didn’t seem to suffer any serious pilling issues.
Perfect for temples
Cap sleeve or sleeveless? There’s no need to choose at the start of the day because this top has options. It only adds about 1-2 inches of sleeve, but instantly turns your sleeveless vest top into a top that can be worn in temples, churches and other skin-sensitive places with relative ease. It’s available in brown, green, purple, blue, orange and black.
