The number of bags, backpacks and even camera bags that include built-in laptop slips, covers and protective pockets are on the increase, but sometimes you just need a simple laptop case. The Ibira from Case Logic is noting special, but provides a one-size-fits-all approach for anyone with a small laptop or big tablet.

Simple design

The Ibira case measures 11.8 x 0.9 x 8.4″/30 x 2.2 x 21.3cm, which makes it able to fit an 11″ MacBook Air, 11.6″ Chromebook or any 12″ tablet. However, that does mean it’s perfect for noe of those. For example, put an 11″ Macbook Air inside and there’s a one-inch gap at the top.

Functional

The design promises much, with an apparent strap on one side. And although there is a small tag that could be attached to some kind of shoulder strap or similar, it’s actually just a flash of colour. We’re not sure it’s there to serve any purpose.

Tough protection

In use the Ibira does offer reasonably good protection, though it doesn’t promise any drop-proof protection, which arguably it should – what iPhone case doesn’t do that? We were also disappointed that the Ibira doesn’t include some kind of slip or pocket for putting conference papers in. Because if the Ibira isn’t going to be used at conferences and on business trips, then where exactly is it going to be used?

Does the job

All in all the Ibira does a good job and fulfils its remit, but this is not an ambitious option. Perfect for putting a laptop safely into a backpack, gym bag or into a suitcase.
