CE China, Shenzhen: These clever cans with a dual-driver system impress on sound quality

Spied at the inaugural CE China event in Shenzhen, China, these over-the-head ‘phones prove ideal for long-haul flights where sound quality over long periods is everything.

Dual drivers

Fitted with a dual-driver system, the Cleer DU contain two separate speakers; one handles high and mid-frequencies, and the second takes care of bass. In out demo with an Onkyo DP-X1 hi-res audio player, the results were great; rounded, full audio, with plenty of bass.

Comfy design

Lightweight and comfortable around the neck – crucial when you;re travelling – the DU’s have a soft leather finish on the ear-cups. Could I sleep in them? I’m sure I could – though the best I cold do was to wear them for 10 minutes in a packed and noisy exhibition hall. Even better, the DU’s are foldable and collapse to a size small enough to place in carry-on luggage.

Protein protection

I’m not sure the claim that the ear-cups are made from ‘artificial protein’ is going to win over many fans, but nevertheless, the end result is a pair of comfortable, friendly headphones boasting excellent sound.
