REVIEW: SAMAR Extendable Selfie Stick
Bluetooth and a 40-inch reach means this monopod could be doing a long stretch on your next trip
Whether you love them or hate them, selfie sticks have been popping up everywhere recently. From couples posing in front of the Eiffel Tower to Christmas family photos, this novelty gift has turned into the must-have gadget of 2015. With the SAMAR Extendable Selfie Stick marked as a best-seller on Amazon, we took a look to see why it’s so special.
Adjustable and extendable
SAMAR’s selfie stick is fully adjustable with a universal phone holder, which uses spring-clamps to hold in place any kind of smartphone, or even a compact camera. It can also be used with or without the phone cover, which is a handy benefit. The stick itself has an extension length of between 11” and 40”. It’s not just for selfie types, either; anyone after a greater reach for their photos – such as in a zoo or at a festival – will benefit from a selfie stick.
Lightweight and compact
If you’re looking for a selfie stick that can fit into a bag while travelling, the SAMAR product does the trick. It weighs just 95g, and it can be folded down and stored easily.
Easy to use
Happily, this selfie stick has Bluetooth, so you can press the shutter on your phone without going near it. There’s also an option for a wire on, rather than wireless, stick, though either works well; just stay away from selfie sticks that have neither – you can’t reach your phone! The shutter-release button on the handle is perfectly placed and the holder is easy to use, rigid and reliable enough to use it with expensive phones. Now get out of that museum!
