PREVIEW: IFA 2014 – LG PH300 HD Minibeam projector
IFA 2014 – Portable, wireless projections is a business travel gem
Live from the IFA 2014 trade show, Berlin, Germany
A portable projector with a built-in battery that lasts a whopping two hours – way beyond the length of any sensibly-timed Powerpoint presentation or movie, LG’s PH300 is a pocket-powered gem for travelling.
It’s simple stuff, with a rear that contains a plug ‘n’ play USB slot for movies, music and photos, below a HDMI slot for inputting from a DVD player or games console, and a headphones slot – the latter extremely rare on any size of projector. It presents a perfectly acceptable 60-inch image from about two metres away, so it’s not particular short-throw.
At IFA 2014, Sony is also showing-off an ultra short throw projector slated for launch in Europe next Summer, but dealing in 4k Ultra HD images – and with Sony’s much-trumped LifeSpace UX to beam a bright 23-inch image of a recipe, a photo or images of a starry night onto any wall, at any time.
