Projectors don’t make the most obvious travel gadget, but for anyone regularly giving presentations on work trips, the recent shrinking of the tech is a bit of a God-send. Most of the major home entertainment brands appear to have swerved the genre altogether, but LG hasn’t hidden away in its IFA 2104 booth inside a small darkened side-room is a bevy of pocket-sized projectors designed not only for businesspeople, but for tourists and travellers, too.

The most versatile is the PW700, a 580g, 172x117mm device that has Bluetooth connectivity not only for sending video content to it, but for sending audio to a separate Bluetooth speaker. The PW700 is primarily designed to work with a pair of Bluetooth headphones. Everything else can be done over Wi-Fi, too, with the PW700 including WiDi and Miracast. It’s got a USB slot for playing any file type, from a USB stick, too.

Picture quality in our demo was pretty good, with the 700 ANSI-Lumens of brightness helping to produce an image of about 60-inches in size on a nearby wall that had decent colours, contrast and detail, though don’t expect wonders from its 1280×800 resolution.

Price as previewed: around £550
