Part of the New Zealand brand’s BODYFIT+200 range, the Icebreaker Oasis Crewe Gradient is both tight-fitting and of heavier weave than the terrific Icebreaker Tech T-Lite that’s worn all over the globe by savvy travellers.
OK, so you’re probably not going to wear the figure-hugging Icebreaker BODYFIT+200 Oasis Crewe Gradient on a night out, but worn as a base layer it’s perfect. It’s warm – ideal for winter hikes and stargazing in the UK – and is so light and tight when rolled-up, it’s great for burying in the bottom of a backpack during a hike at any time of year.
We wore the Icebreaker BODYFIT+200 Oasis Crewe Gradient out on a two-day hike across the Brecon Beacons; even after a steep ascent that led us to break sweat, we stayed dry. It also refuses to get smelly. Tested in -25C temperatures in Finland it helped keep us toasty warm as part of a fourlayer system. And still no wet skin.
Is the Icebreaker BODYFIT+200 Oasis Crewe Gradient for men part of trave gear royalty? Not quite – it’s too thick to be taken on random trips – but for almost any outdoors pursuit it’s worth either wearing in winter, or taking for emergencies.
