REVIEWED: Bose SoundLink wireless speaker
This a high-end heavyweight proves too cumbersome on the road
Where to buy the Bose SoundLink
Price as reviewed: £259
Twice the size of the Geneva Model XS, the SoundLink from audio brand Bose – yes, them of the constant adverts for noise-cancelling headphones in inflight magazines – is a high-end heavyweight. At 130x245x50mm it seems portable, but it’s a weight of 1.3kg that rules it out for most travellers.
Weather resistant
Boasting a cover-cum-prop stand a weather resistant, robust design, this Bose also indulges in Bluetooth streaming for about five hours on a full charge, which is poor value considering its bulk.
Generous on bass
Initial pairing is a one-button process, with the Bose SoundLink then memorising the last six devices to link to it; walk into a room and it pairs with your smartphone. Though it’s generous on bass to the cost of treble detail, and it both huge and hugely overpriced, there’s none better for high volume outdoor use.
Outdoors animal
Hefty in weight and price, this is a mostly polished choice for outdoor use – but it;s best thought of as a private pool party animal.
